Tip to Wife Who Has Built

Life on a False Assumption

By RUTH MILLETT “WHAT can a wife and mother do,” asks a reader, when she realizes that she has built her life on a false assumption, ‘the assumption being that she is as important to her husband’s happiness as he is to hers, that she is loved as deeply as she loves? Admitting it is a step in the right direction. For admitting an unpleasant fact is the first step toward acceptance of it. Also it will keep her from expecting more from her husband than he can give or is willing to give, and then being bitterly disappointed when what he offers in the way of devotion and understanding falls short of her expectations. 80 once she has accepted the facts as they are she can go on to find security in other ways.

ode

SHE CAN make up her mind to be as good a wife as she can, so that she can at least be true to her own best self,
