OPEN CANS

/° SAVE CONTARE FOR PLAYING STORE, CL I ST ==

What youngster hasn't enjoyed playing store? Why not have your own store with the same things that Mother and Dad buy when they go shopping? The next time you go to the store, watch the way the grocer. has his canned goods stacked, see how he has it marked, and what variety he has on hand. Notice how he talks to people about the things that they wish to buy. Now when you get ready to set up your store, get a large carton and start saving empty cans from the kitchen. See if Mother will start opening cans from the bottom and wash them, so they will look nice when piaced right side up on your store shelves. If your can opener leaves sharp edges, cover them with adhesive tape. Empty spice, cocoa, and gelatin containers, give variety in size and shape to your merchandise. Paste up cereal, cookie, and dog food boxes, just like they were before they were opened. Price your goods, and invite your friends, or your classmates if your store is in school, to come and “buy” from you. MONDAY—Play money for play stores.
