SNOW ...ice... rain... or balmy breezes . . . the semifinal round of the 18th Times-Legion Golden Gloves Tournament is on tonight, al The bell for the first fight on the semifinal card tonight is scheduled to be struck at 8 o’clock—on the dot— his by veteran timekeeper Carl Mattern. That bell will send between 30 and 40 eager youngsters into action for the fourth night of fighting in this year's tournament. And when the resin dust clears over the Armory ring, only" 32 fighters will remain for the final night of of fighting next Friday night.
» » THE REMAINING youngsters, some 56 of them, were to weigh-in and be given physical examinations in the Armory medical room between 2 and 4 o'clock this afternoon. Immediately after the weigh-ins, the Times-Legion committee and the fight trainers will get together for the drawings and pairings. The card will then be posted in the dressing rooms at the Armory and each of the fighters will see who his opponent is for the evening. In the first three weeks of eliminations, some 4000 fans have witnessed some of the most exciting amateur fighting staged in Indiana in years.

Shortridge’s county champions and Southport’s Cardinals are favored to lead state meet qualifiers in the high school sectional wrestling tournament at Southport tomorrow. The Southport tourney is one of four elimination sites to determine a state champion at Bloomington High School Feb. 17. Tech will be one of the top contenders in the Bloomington | sectionals tomorrow. Jefferson of, Lafayette, beaten only by Tech| Pounds, winner in 12 of 15 and South Bend Central and tied matches; Maurice Rice 129, winner by Southport, will be favored at/in 14 of 15 bouts; Jerry Grummel, the Bronco sectional.
