Original valentines make a big hit with the receiver, and it is fun to put extra effort into special valentines for your closest friends. Too many of us now just go to the card display racks in the nearest store, and pick out appropriate cards. These cards are beautiful and are generally inexpensive, but they still do not give the same facling as one which you create and put your “heart” into. It is fun to have a neighborhood group together just to make valentines. Cut out hearts can be made in all sizes and colors, and once you have a pattern to draw around, you can make dozens of each size, The rabbit shown above can be glued together with thread for whiskers, paper or felt ears, and a cotton fluff on the back for a tail. Birds can be assembled with match or toothpick legs and neck.
