HERE'S A CRY HEARD quite frequently from husbands: “I can always tell when my wife is pregnant.

She gets so damn mean!”

Increased irritability is not necessary to pregnancy, but it can

be easily understood.

Anyone having a degree of nausea, plus the sometimes natural apprehension accompanying pregnancy, plus tender breasts, is not the top candidate for sweetness and light. If husbands are honest they will remember” experiencing minor discomforts and having their dispositions affected to an exaggerated degree. So when you, as a prospective mother, experience some of

these unpleasantries, you may be expected to lose your ordinary -

happy attitude regarding home and family, All of us have sur bad moments when we find it difficult to be nice even to ourselves. But pregnancy does not confer the right upon anyone to be this way throughout the entire 40 weeks.

» ” ”

IF YOU FEEL LIKE telling your close friends off, and wish your family would drop out of sight, just sit down and look at yourself in a mirror and ask if this is really Metessaty. Take a good

long walk and think over the reasons why you

stew.

find yourself in &

Perhaps you should talk your problems over with your doctor,

and see. if you can’t come to a degree of stability by yourself, Don’t think that because you feel the world is a cruel, unkind planet that you are different from your pregnant colleagues anywhere, No one can give you a formula that will make your life Utopian. You, and only you, can find the final answer because your problems are individual and sometimes complex. » ” » SOMETIME during the first months of pregnaney every girl should have her blood tested for the RH factor. rt About 85 per cent of the people of the white race have a substance in the red blood cells known as the RH factor. This 85 per cent are designated or “typed” as RH positive. The other 15 per cent do.not have this substance and are therefore designated as being RH negative.

This is the third of six articles which present thonghtful, practical advice on the physical snd emotional aspects of pregnancy — material of value to the prospective father as well as the expectant mother. Condensed from the recent book, “Your Pregnancy,” the articles are written by a famous mother, daughter of the late President, and by a specialist in childbirth. pregnancy. And where a girl is

found to be RH negative, and

married to a man who is RH positive, there should be periodic blood tests made from that time on, to see if any antibodies have developed. vo This conflict in the blood stream rarely occurs with a first pregnancy. But by periodically testing the girl's blood, in such cases, one can predict the possibility of damage to the baby, and plan accordingly. So, if your blood types RH negative, discuss the whole question fully with your doctor. You will not then be filled with needless worries.

Keep Doctor Informed

per cent of all marriages are this combination. When this happens, it is found that in about one out of each 200 cases where pregnancy occurs, the mother-to-be produces in her blood stream still another substance, called an antibody. These anti-bodies may cause some damage to the baby

(anemia or jaundice), while the baby. is still in the uterus. This"

anemia or jaundice may persist and progress after birth,

THROUGH OUT = pregnancy many questions arise that you feel your doctor should answer, Most of the questions are minor ones that can wait until your next visit, or are answered in a book your doctor has recommended. But there are certain conditions that he always wants. to be informed about as soon as

they occur. Let your docter or“his oMics know if any of the |
