THERE'S ONE Indiana resident who puts Ner stamp of ap-
proval on jury service for women. , That's Mrs. Sarah Faulk,
only feminine member of the current Marion County Grand Jury. After almost a full term of service (her six months will end next Sunday) Mrs. Faulk declares: . “It’s fine experience for women.” : She believes it teaches her sex-a great deal more about the law than they otherwise would know, She also believes it challenges women to study. “Certainly women should serve,” she observes. “I consider my own. experience finvaluable both from the standpoint of broadening my under of law and
Nor has the woman juror always been in perfect agreement with her fellow jurors. Indeed, her opinions in various instances have differed from the five men impanelled in the July jury, But in those instances she’s stuck to her guns. » » » THE JUROR preferred not to comment on what she had found “most interesting.” “I'm still under oath,” she explained. r But she did say she's see “people get themselves all tied up ”
As for visits to all county institutionsg routine procedure with all d Juries, she declared, “My first interest is in

the welfare of all the people in all those places.” She also thinks it would be a fine idea if civic-minded women would take and, as well, maintain a concerted interest in these different institutions. » » . AS A MEMBER of the Grand Jury Mrs. Faulk has learned to vote for a no bill, no bill filed on affidavit or an indictment. 8he has learned to take notes for her own reference, to listen carefully, to remember the allegafions of the accusation clearly so she can give proper weight to the question. She has learned to sift everything for fact and fact alone. Twenty statés — Indiana is one -— have compulsory jury service for women, The other 18, Alaska; District
_of Columbia and the Virgin
Islands employ what is known as voluntary jury service for women. In other words a wo-
man may refuse to serve solely
because of her sex. » t 4 n THERE ARE specific 1equirements for Grand Jury
