If Santa Claus goes by house numbers, he may have considerable trouble when he gets to Indianapolis, { He will find houses with even numbers on the wrong side of

the street. Hg'll even encounter) ™ whole blocks out of sequence. Take the case of Mr. and Mrs. william D. Pratt, 1335 Randall Rd. Ten years ago when the Pratts built their home, they just chose the number.

Broad Ripple Ave. east of the Monon Railroad is a combination’ of 62d and 63d Streets. Residents] refer to them indiscriminately. And out on the West Side there | is 23d St., but is it? The map says| it 1s, but it has been approved as Cold Spring Lane. Then there is Sutherland Ave, and Millersville Rd. No one seems] to know where the dividing line| is. And on the west side of Ar-| lington Ave. 11th St. and Eastridge Dr. are the same street. But east of Aflington Ave. they are two streets. | Most of the trouble came about several years ago, before the city engineer's office took over the duty of assigning house numbers| inside the city. | Until that time home owners) Sook almost any number that] seemed appropriate.
