I have a soft spot in my heart for the hirds who spend the winter months with us. They are always so bright and perky with their twittering and flitting about that they help brighten the dullest day. They ask no favors of anvone. yet they do welcome All birds do not eat the same food, so to get a

| variety of birds, you must have food variety in their bill of fare,

Once you start feeding them, don't let them down.

Birds, like other pets, get in the habit of eating at a regular time. Praetically all winter birds like suet which should always be made available, but they will also eat many other table scraps. Doughnuts, which are often a part of your fare. can be hung for a special treat. Hang a board for a window shelf, and bore holes in it where vou can stick in a dowel rod or a whittled twig. Turn the twig into a doughnut tree. and stack stale doughnuts on

the dowel rod. See. vou can even enjoy stale doughnuts! MONDAY
