Internal Interference WASHINGTON, Nov. 24 (UP) The llnited” States protested to Russia again today about alleged Soviet interference in Austrar internal affairs, and warnasd Moscow. that its actions threaten to wreck the four-power occupation. The protest was contained in a

note delivered —to— the Soviet:

Foreign Office in Moscow yesterday and made public by the State Department today. U, S. officials said Britain and France made similar protests. The latest “Western protest arose from Soviet assistance given Communist rioters in an abortive Red uprising in Austria Oct. 4. The Soviets blocked efforts by the Austrian government to restore order, and later defeated Austrian efforts to discipline five police chiefs who supported the rioters, The note also charged that Russian authorities “further aggravated” the situation by ardering the director of the Austrian police to withdraw any punitive action against police in the Soviet zone unless such action had Soviet approval, and in particular to quash the proceedings against the five police chiefs.
