: Nine more city and county teams will usher in their 1950-51 net seasons this Thanksgiving week—with thanks-giving or mis-givings.
Nine others are already on the road to feast or famine on the : hardwood. Some of the healthy favorites, flushed with experience’ and rosy-cheeked from last year’s
prosperous living, have fattened up already this year with seasonopening victories and the promise of more to come. Crispus Attucks, one of last year's healthy specimens, and Franklin Township, already glowing with two straight-triumphs, begin a 15-game schedule this week. Attucks inaugurates its season at Sheridan and the Flashes go to Fortville. The Tigers dre under new management, Ray Crowe taking over for the veteran Fitzhugh Lyons, who has forsaken the head coaching duties. !

The trimmings are plentiful all
week. Southport, winner of one of two games and potentially strong. visits Washington's Continentals in a fancy bargain bill { Friday. .
Coach Dave Hine, the Continental taskmaster, has a promising nucleus to throw at the durable Cardinals. Bob Border, who led the West Siders with an eight-point-per-game average last season, is back. So are lanky Pete Caulk, Dave Curtis and Sid Tillery from the 1949-50 team that won eight of 19 in season and nine of 11 over all. Carol Rance will probably join footballérs Ed Kernodle, Jim
Lee and Elmer Lowery for sup-
plementary details. : Ripple Has 3 Lettermen Broad Ripple and Lawrence Central face their opening. tipoff tomorrow. The Rockets, who lost the 1950 sectional title to Tech, 38 to 36, in a thriller, have an encouraging supply of talent. Warren Sparks, Dick Lawson and Dave Jessee are returnees from Coach Frank Baird's “surprise” quintet. Jessee, an inch short of the six-and-a-half-foot mark, averaged 10 points a game last year, ‘Needham :- Hurst, Jay. Hanselmann and Kenny probably join Jessee and Sparks as starters. Ripple won 14, eight a year ago. Lawrence will rely heavily on
Gar Wallsmith, also a 10-point- -a-|
game hitter, and Bob Pugh. Manual opens against the Bears

Tech's sectional champs who were defeated by Madison in the sémifinal daytime game, will have unfamiliar faces starting against, Warren Central tomorrow. Junior Joe Sexson and Sénior Myron Moriarity, both of whom know what athletics are all about, are the only returning members’ from Tech's fine 10-man gang last tourney time. i Bierman Joins Tech | Gil Bierman is the third footballer who will be ready in time tomorrow. Bill Evans will Join
} Bierman to drive the Greenclads
from the guard slots and Myton Garland probably will team with Moriarity at forward. :
Bob Bishop and Bill Shannon probably. will be available from Coach Powell Moorhead's proimis‘ng reserve team that lost only four of 16 games. Moorhead has been demoted to freshman ‘coach this fall. Four of Howe's starting five from last year are back, including Wilbur Zobbe, Dave Fahrbach, Charles. McMullen and Kenny | W.ood.- Coach Eli Yeager will add Ed Dwyer, the fifth rugged play-| er above the two-yard notch. Shortridge opens at Greenfield tomorrow minus Big Bill" Ralph, who averaged 17.8 points last vear. Bill is at VMI. along with Footballer Rufus Marks. Jim Balch, Ward Walker and! Ward Sexson, cousin of Joe Sexson, are returning Blue lettermen.
