Fred Brittain. of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, suggested this old time party trick. It is nice to have small favors either at the table or for the children to take home, and “Twirling Buttons” are just the thing. You can make these button twirlers yourself, and it will be fun to see who is the most successful at spinning them. You may have a collection of large coat buttons, or you can get enough for each persen invited to your party at the “dime” store. Pass a thirty-inch string through two holes in the button, and tie ‘the ends together on the opposite side. Swing it In a circle around and around as shown, until it is wound up well, then by spreading your hands apart, the button unwinds in the opposite direction. By altéinately pulling and slackening the hands, the | button winds and unwinds and can be kept going indefinitely. These will make your party hum, !'—-MONDAY—Make a carton telephone exchange.
