LIVING DOESN'T stop when a family moves into an unfur: nished home. Mr. and Mrs, Ernest Hinkle, 44 E. 824 8t., remembered that when they moved into their new dwelling in May. So they decided to take the decoration slowly in the main part of the house. And to concentrate on one room for allpurpose activity. Here, they, their small daughter, Donna Sue, and their friends could enjoy themselves in pleasant surroundings. Mr. Hinkle, president of the Indianapolis Home Builders Association, designed the room with a curved window grouping that looks out on a lush lawn and woods. The decorative motif is Chinese, but it's Chinese softened with Oriental rugs and gay rather than garish colors. Pauline Hinkle has used yellow draw draperies and red wallpaper with a Far Eastern
bamboo furniture in the room.
Easily Moved
THE BAMBOO pieces are light and easy to move, and the television set is on rollers so that it has maximum flexibility. Lamps, also in the Far Eastern mood, are generously spaced about the room, large enough for easy reading. Construction details of the room which add to its livability include an etchwood dado in natural and a buff brick fireplace. There's a built-in black lacquered desk and shelves which provide a handy workspace for Mr. Hinkle. His office is located in the house, too, but it's good to have gpace where he can work ‘en famille.” k Built-ins are eve here. Outstanding is the breakfast room
glass mirror. In Donna Sue's room is a toy chest painted white to match her woodwork. Bhe’s especially fond of it because it's so easy for her to find a toy at a moment's notice.

Asphalt tile covers the floor in the activity room, and vinyl plastic the floor in the breakfast room and kitchen. The latter looks untouched as new; still needs no waxing even after repeated tricycle “business trips”

by Donna Sue. Iron grillwork softens the brick ranch style Hinkle home. And built-in plant troughs outside do the job even more completely. Just as soon as the pictures and lamps arrive in the rest of the house the Hinkles will be. “at home” in any room out on E. 824 St.
