South Carolina Scores 14-14 Tie
COLUMBIA, 8. C., Oct. 20 (UP; —Clemson’s perfect football rec-| ord was sullied today by streak-| ing Steve Wadiak, a fired-up Chi-| cagoan who personally led South Carolina's underestimated Gamecocks to a 14 to 14 tie. Previous to yesterday's deadlock, Clemson had been unbeaten, untied and unscored upon. Wadiak, a will-o-the-wisp halfback who exhibited equal disregard for a muddy field and Clemson tacklers, scored both South Carolina touchdowns after jaunts of 66 and 73 yards. Fullback Fred Cone, whose fourth period touchdown tied the game, for Clemson, was unable to imake much headway most of the | afternoon because of the sloshy underfooting. Wadiak, on the other hand, piled up 256 yards in 19 tries for a spectacular average of 13.5 yards per carry. After Clemson tied the game in the final two minutes, Wadiak made a final effort to bring victory to the Gamecocks. After the kickoff, he took the ball on a handoff and dashed to the ClemIson 30 where a subsequent South [Carolina field goal attempt was blocked.
