Stricken Woman's Daughter Rushes to Near-Tragedy Scene

An elderly woman who suffered a heart attack last night was almost asphyxiated early today along with three others who were assembled in the home to take

care of her. . Four persons on one side of a double house were overcome by gas, believed to have escaped

from a refrigeration unit, and two others in the adjoining dwelling were made ill this morning at 1613-1615 Finley Ave. Mrs. Edith Norrington, 74, who suffered the attack last night was unconscious today when police arrived. - Also uncongcious was her son, John, 49, and his wife, Beatrice, 48, 1014 N. Garfield Drive, and Mrs, Cora l.efter, 84, of Cumberland. Mr. and Mrs. Norrington had spent the night with his mother hecause of her attack, Mrs. Lefter had come to care for the invalid. double, were made ill by the escaping gas but not overcome, The four persons made unconscious probably owe their lives to Mrs. Ruth Hurt, 25, of 1123 Hoefgen St., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Norrington. Mrs. Hurt said she rushed to her grandmother's home early to day after her mother telephoned to say everyone felt terribly sick. She found the four unconscious, Mrs. Lefter and Mrs. John Norrington are in fair condition at St. Francis Hospital. Police said the Smiths went to the Norrington side of the house
