YEAR IN and year out, Fearful Fred wins at canasta. He ought to. - He plays every day and he is a mighty good * canasta player. However, if he! ° weren't scared of his own shadow he would do considerably better. Fred plays the early part of a canasta hand about as well as anyone. . : He knows how to build up his hand, how to fight successfully for ‘the discard pile, how to ¢ooperate with his partner and how to keep the opponents in doubt! as to what he is doing. !

Worries HOWEVER, if Fred and his partner get control of the discard} pile and have a chance for al } really big score on a hand, Fred gets neryous and ruins the play. He immediately starts to worry about the opponents going out. Of course, they sometimes do, but
