and chaotic.” The bishop expressed no pessimism, but rather a stout belief in the “ultimate

supremacy of righteousness.” Bishop Moore spoke of eating southern fried chicken with Gen. MacArthur and Mrs. MacArthur in their home in Japan. The bishop relayed to the audience the genera's urgent request for hundreds of additional missionaries. “The old gods of Japan are dead,” Gen. MacArthur was quoted as saying.
