Barkley Sees Peace
Within Generation MAYFIELD, Ky., Aug. 19 (UP) —Vice President Alben W. Barkley predicted here yesterday that peace will come to the world at least within a generation. “What happens elsewhere in the world affects all of us. We in America can't be forever free if the rest of the world is enslaved and prostrate,” Mr. Barkley said. As for the coming of peace, Mr. Barkley said: “It may be five years, 10 years, or perhaps a generation, but a generation is a short time if at last all peaceloving peoples have permanent freedom.”
