- In addition he can name the location of every postal station in New York City and St. Louis. The sharp-eyed, mild-mannered man carries more than just a map of every railroad line, crossing junction and spur between the large cities in his territories in his mind.
He also knows, through long association, Bill, Joe, Hank, clerks at the various towns, their problems, major and minor industries of mail points and a wealth of other Information that doesn’t come out of books. Just the other day, he “threw” the Missouri Southern “scheme” in less than 30 minutes with 100 per cent accuracy.
That means the “rolling post,
office” veteran of 29 years tossed cards representing every post office in the southern postal section of Missouri into slots representing the fastest and most practicable railway lines to expedite mail to area post offices. Facing a honeycombed file-box, he tossed the scheme at the rate of 201, cards a minute. His accu-
racy was perfect.
