Use Ingenious Methods To Get News Out

War correspondents writing stories from the front in Korea are using radio, telephone, friendly American: pilots, and prayers to get their stories to the United States.

+ Keyes Beech, Times foreign correspondent who is in the thick of the fighting, appended this note to a story. “Every story I write is sent with prayer it reaches you, since there no communications out of Korea and I'm handing copy to pilots heading Japan-ward.”

From Tokyo the news stories are radioed to the United States. There is no evidence yet that Mr. Beech has encountered any censorship. Three other Times foreign correspondents are stationed strategically in the Pacific area. Albert Ravenholt flew from Formosa to Hong Kong, another potential trouble spot, when the Korean invasion began.

Standing by and ready to speed anywhere that fighting should break out are Paul Katigbak in the Phillippines, and Fred Hubbard in Australia.

Mr. Beech, who had been stationed in Tokyo in anticipation of just such a development as the Korean putbreak, was a Marine combat correspondent during the last war
