Problems
Girl Not Allowed To Lead Own Life
By RUTH MILLETT THE PRESSURE fs on Susie to get a husband. She has finished her education, and her parents don’t seem to know what to do about her now. So every time another girl in her crowd gets a diamond or sends out wedding Invitations Susie's mama gets that “it's later-than-you-think” gleam in her eye. Poor Susie. She could be nolding down a job, having a try at earning her own living and leading her own life, and not have to feel like a failure because the majority of the girls she grew up with beat her to the altar, But Susie’s parents discouraged the job idea and insisted that she stay at home with them, where Susie’s mama could do a little husband-pro-moting.
Susie accepted her parents’ decision, and now the pressure is on. It isn’t right out in the open, of course. But Susie knows full well that the only way she can make her mother happy is by getting a husband—and the poor girl is doing her best to succeed in her mother’s eyes. . » »
MAYBE Susie will be lucky and really find the “rignt man” in time, fall head-over-heels in love and make herself, some fine young man and her mother all happy at the same time. “ But there's a great chance that such a thing won't happen | at all : There's a terrible chance that Susie will become desperate one. of these days and marry the first young man who asks her, just so that she can please mama and at the time get out from under the terrible pressure to keep up with the other girls in her crowd.

Teen Problems—
Where to Meet
By JOAN WHEN A couple makes a date, they naturally arrange a meeting place. But where? Well the first’ choice is the girl's house. Every other arrangement is simply a substitute for this best and most correct one, A boy should never insist on his date sneaking out to meet him. He should never suggest an outside meeting unless it's absolutely necessary. Occasionally, it is necessary. Perhaps the couple has summer jobs and plans a picnic or a swim or a supper Immediately after work.

He must never ask Joan to wait on a street corner or outside a movie or a public beach among strangers. He must not expect her to go unattended into a dance place or a juke joint or a cocktail Lounge. * Next to the girl's own home, acceptable meeting places are the home of a friend, a club or the reception room of a good hotel. / But the boy must make a point of being on time at the rendezvous. Candlewick Pattern Cake Frosting
The beauty of a candlewickpatterned bedspread may be duplicated in the frosting of a cake, to make an unusual, eyecatching dessert. Bring home an uniced baker's cake and use frosting that has been tinted a pastel color. While the frosting is still soft, imbed bits of marshmallow in it, arranging the bits to imitate a favorite candlewick pattern.
