Sketching birds is a wonderful summertime activity for where ever you are, whether at home or on vacétion, you will have bird models. It is great fun too, if you are right in the heart of a big city, to draw pigeons and sparrows. The important thing in sketching is to do it often, and da not be discouraged if your first attempts don’t please you. Jusf keep these for your own comparison later on. Get a spiral-backedy pocket size, sketch notebook, and try your luck at catching details of various birds, One good plan is to draw the shape and characteristics of the bird in as much detail as possible. You may not get much done before it flies away, but you can find another one later on to complete the drawing. -Jot down on the opposite pages any notes which will help you in identifying the different kinds of birds as you draw them. Some of our best wild life artists got their start

in this way, and their drawings were not too good at first either,

Keep trying! MONDAY-—A Backyard Umbrella Tent. i
