“I'd walk a million miles for one of your smiles...” |!
YW Well, we dida't exactly walk it. We drove it. But it was 8 staggering total of miles, at that: In 1949, to bring the smile of satisfaction to the faces of Marion County gas users, the Utility's cars-and trucks drove 1,062,448 miles (qver 40 trips around the world)!
Forty-six passenger cars and 92 trucks, big and little, were running around Marion County intent on the business of the day. Ld Emergency trucks were busy with repairs and main extensions, service trucks were adding new gas users to the lines, customer service trucks responded to calls night and day, specialists and supervisors were busy checking, training and handling out-ofs the-ordinary problems, appliance trucks delivered and installed ' new gas appliances, home service girls made calls on homes
makers, gas engineers were busy helping commercial and ine
dustrial gas users in ‘processing and planning—yes sir—in 1949 Utility vehicles drove over one million miles to win your smiles. The assignment of providing good gas service, to Over of 123,000 gas users scattered over Marion County’s 400 square miles, is a big one. But Gas Utility employees like the gas busi« k= ness, enjoy the task of satisfying gas users, because Gas Utility employees know their jobs depend on merit and not on the - chagging tides of politics. One out of every ten Gas Utility
employees has served you over twenty-five years.
