WO PUPPET SHOWS at the recent Junior t League meeting were most amusing . . . especially the one for which the puppets were made of vegetables: Santa Claus started out as a beet. A lamb’s body was a corn cob. And the other actors had been a potato, an artichoke, a turnip, a carrot and a grapefruit. A Negro mammy was made oi an eggplant. It was suggested that making similar puppets was an ideal pastime for children on a rainy day, but it would be risky to try without the help of one of the talented creators. Sylvia Peacock had on a fascinating dress at the meeting. It had a white ground with quite large brown burros with large floppy ears printed on it. She wore several strands of iridescent beads---yellow, pink, turquoise, green and white-——which would be smart at any time but seemed especially suitable with a summer dress. . That same day Mrs. George McClure had on a long-sleeved white shirt with a blue-and-white-checked gingham skirt and a small white hat. Very smart.

# ~ » Jane and Eldon Nyhart pleased their older friends by having some of them in late one afternoon at their apartment in Meadowbrook. They were mostly people who had entertained for them at the time of their wedding, and they more than appreciated being asked.
