Junior Civic Theater Will Present |
'The Pied Pipe Bruce Pearfon = Writes Script By JEAN MANEY JUNIOR Civic Theater alumni . take show business very much to heart. There are Civic trained teenagers in almost every entertainment center in the country. Gloria Baker is studying ballet ‘in New York and Thorton and Steve Klos, Bill Shirley and Bob Munger are in California. Others are studying for careers in dramatics. Pat Welch is in Indiana University where she just finished the starring role in “Medea.” Pat Locke and Ann Hood are also at I. U. Jean Ann Bates and Nancy Forbes are in Butler University.
Writes Script One of the most intense graduates of the Junior Civic Theater is Bruce Pearson. Bruce is the playwright for the next play, "The Pied Piper.” The play will be presented tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday in the theater, Bruce has worked in the Civic gince 1944. He's done everything from painting scenery to the lead role in Moliere’'s “School for Husbands.” A student in Earlham College, Bruce is majoring in English, speech and education. He's editor of the school paper. The ¥arlham Post, and helps produce the weekly radio program, “The Earlham Hour.”
Dozen Revisions Bruce began. thinking mbout the play, “The Pied Piper “in 1948. He became =o interested in the story that he decided to
write the script himself. Bruce _..,n* members of Brownie Troop urday morning are being: held -by
spent all of his summer vacation working on the dialog and finished the first draft in September. Right now he’s a little tired of “The Pied Piper.” Bruce estimates that hé's revised the script “at least a dozen times.” Nancy Forbes is Bruce's chief assistant. She's production manager for the play and is helping Bruce with last-min-ute script changes. Tomorrow's performance will be at 4 p. m. There will be two shows on Saturday. The 10:30 a. m. performance is being sponsored by Circle C of the Church of the Advent. Mesdames John R. Fletcher, Frank B. Lamb and William B. Harbison are chairmen.
