Trend Is Reflected In Used Car Prices
It's not a mére spring creep this year. It's a gold rush. Owners with, trade-ins are getting considerably more than they did three or four months ago, but they have to wait four weeks and up for new cars. Dealers say they don't understand. it. Here we are almost five years after the war, plenty of time to make enough cars for everybody, and the public. is still clamoring for more. Some think it is the shortage created by the long Chrysler strike. Others think the dark strike clouds hovering over General Motors are pushing buyers into the Inarhet WE

thought were gone forever. Dealers noticed it back in Janpary. Used car pricés began
crawling up. Cars were bid up at the wholesale auctions. There was something in the wind. They
couldn't put their finger on it, but there it was. Today dealers -are getting
sharp letters from buyers who have made down payments. They say, “Where's my car? 1 bought it three or four weeks ago.”
