8th Annual Session
Approximately 500 leaders and ministérs from 34 denominations are gathered in Indianapclis for the eighth annual convention of the National Association of Evangelicals in the Roberts Park Methodist Church. The association also Includes local congregations of 50 - additional -Prot-
nations, schools, mission boards and individual per SONS. Dr. Harold J. Ockenga, pastor of the Park Street Church, Boston, will speak today at 8:15 p. m. on “Romanism in the Light of God's Word.” Dr. Stephen W. Paine, retiring president of the national association and president of Houghton (New York) College, will pre- Sis side as chalirman of the main § sessions of the convention. i) The Rev. The King's Men Quartet of Dr. Paine Youth for Christ will sing and Dr. and Mrs. Max Burke will give a vocal and saxo phone duet. While registration will. occupy most of today, business sessions of eight commissions were scheduled to start at 10 a. m. They will deal “with such 'matters—as- reli + gious radio, foreign missions, evangelism, youth, Sunday school, Christian educational institutions and evangelical action ~~ Among other leaders who will have prominent places on the program are the Rev. Paul 8. Rees, D. D., pastor of First Covenant Church, large evangelical: center in Minneapolis; the Rev. Howard W, Ferrin, D. D,, president of Providence, R, I, Bible Institute, and the Rev. Eugene R. Bertermann, Ph. D., D. D., director of the “Lutheran Hour,” “world's largest radio network program, Officials of the Roberts Park Church, . which is not a member of the National Association of Evangelical, made the church and its facilities available to the association for the ‘convention.
