Diosd Costello Makes Switch

Torso fo Vocal Action

By Earl Wilson NEW YORK, Apr. 15—For a lot of years now, Miss’ Diosa Costello has been known as the “premiere derriere-|

wiggler.”

Diosa would be the Giida Gray of this generation. She

could stick out that derriere carry a glass of water on it. such as “Diosa went rapidly to the front by bringing up

the rear.” 2 And then suddenly our torsotossing Diosa emerges as a fat old frump dressed to play Bloody Mary in the road company of “South Pacific.”

“What happened?” I asked

~Diosa, after taking careful note! that she was covered up under a lot of clothes.

Wiosa was at the the basement of the Majestic Theater, - where Mary Martin, Ezio Pinza, yes, and Juanita Hall (the original Bloody Mary) have made theatrical history. She was! down in this cellar getting her costumes perfected. (Ah, for those old days, when Diosa prastically didn't need any costume!) “Are yoy done with the riere-tossing ?”’ I inquired. “I hope 80,” said Diosa
