Glen Maxwell Fires 699 to Lead Keglers; 4 Women Top 600
Frank's Furniture Girls Wallop League-Leading Whirlaways Twice
By GENE LAWSON There were two highlights on the local pin front last night Glen Maxwell's 699 series and the continuation of the hot bowling spree enjoyed by the women. Maxwell, the manager at Pennsylvania, came within a cat’s whisker of registering his second 700 of the season. Glen rolled on his “home” alleys and had scores of 231, 244 and 224 for a 699 series with the Rainbow Grill ag- —— eu wm———— gregation in the Fi-Blak Insulaion circuit. The Rainbow Grill outfit walloped the league-leading Petty's Five contingent three straight! games with their 1018-983-1022— 3023 total. Four other honors were chalked, up among the men. They were Len Faust with 259-179-234—872 with Linde Air Products at the
Speedway, Bob Shaw with 188-257-221-666 with Stark & Wetzel
in the Automotive loop at the Fox-Hunt, Felix Lucas with 236-221-202—659 with Plach’s Tavern at Dezelan's and Fay Rugh with 207-227-219—653 with the Firemen at the Indiana establishment. Hickman Loses Frank’s Furniture girls grabbed much of the applause among the women. Frank's not only took two of three games from loopleading Hickman Whirlaway, but
they also placed two of their members on the 600 list.
Clara Fon led the feminine 600 parade with a 641 mark in the
»
West Side Bowes Seal Fast circuit. Clara fired games of 214, 225 and 202 while representing Claypool Flower Shop.
Betty Jordan of Hickman's was just 10 pins shy of that figure with her 631 on scores of 246, 180
and 205. The other two women’s 600s were turned in by Helen Wolf, who had 181-224-202—607,| and LaVerne Biers, with 191-180-234 — 605. Both compete with
Frank's. The 1050 Scratch Classic, a project of the Indianapolis Bowling Alley Proprietor's Association, will get underway at the Pennsylvania alleys on the week-end of Apr. 22 and 23. The entry fee is $13.50 and the event is open to all sanctioned members of the Indiana Bowling Association. There will be no record made of
entries unless “the money is received and all such fees will be returned in prize money. For further details call Pennsylvania,
