The other evening, Mr. Johnston entered the banquet room-of the Carlton Hotel, removed his hat and coat, and strode, brisk and smiling toward a table at one end of the room around which 17 men were gathered The waiters were just delivering the shrimp cocktails—Mr. Johnston was right on time for dinner. Then, Mr. Johnston, formerly president of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, did a double take, the faces at the table were familiar, all right, but not the ones he had expected.
