Three men in the air with but a single thought. This action occurred in the Lawrence Central.
Speedway game last night. The Bears and the Sparkplugs opened the 1950 county tournament. Dan Siler (4) of Lawrence Central, George Vance (12) of Speedway and Harold Kuykendall (14) of Speedway go up for that ball. The Sparkplugs won out, 35.25.

Ben Davis, im-| proved of late and probably the slight favorite despite a previous 39 to 34 loss, dropped a 30 to 38 heart-breaker in the last halfsecond against Warren Central, a team that’s meat on the county tournament table. Then came the deluge, Pike's Ron Beard managed three fielders in the final period but Southport was rolling. It hit eight of 15 in the fourth session, Pike could have beaten any other caunty team. Its total was second highest for the night, Bad Fourth Costly In the opener, a scoring drought by Lawrence in the final period ¢ost the Bears the game. The losers hit only one of 17 field goal attempts in Re last eight minutes, getting cold faster than the weather, Speedway led 11 to 6 at the first stop and 18 to 14 at the half. Gar Wallsmith fired two quickies and Dan Siler added another fielder early in the third period and the Bears tied it at 23-all starting the fourth, Center Ray Stewart's 15 points and his height were a big factor for Speedway and so was the tireless scrap of little Fred Wingert, whose 10-point total was his best one-game effort of the year, The Bears missed Jim Reynolds, who still has a sprained ankle, and too many hurried basket attempts. They hit .176 off nine of 81 attempts. Speedway .did little better, hitting 13 of 58 for .224. Ben Davis and Warren Central stole the show, hands down. The Giants Jed 9 to 4, 18 to 17, and
