The section provides an ideal space for the secretary and chairs shown in the winter, a table and lounge chair grouping in the summer. (Reason for the switch is the covering of the register when it's not in use.) Mrs. List has used soft colors for the rest of her furnishings to take away from the harshness of the old home's lines. during a spting planting spree, the Lists literally unearthed the missing plece<in their yard. For utilitarian reasons, they added a group of shelves which, along with extra storage space, effectively display Mrs. List's collection of antique glassware. It's painted white to ‘match the rest of the woodwork. Here the carpet is green, too, to match the drapes and set off the cabbage rose wallpaper. To inject a necessary modern ‘note in the home, more shelves were built in the kitchen. There are more to come for Irene still is forced to store many of her dishes in unhandy quarters she has to stoop to reach.
