© NO TWO FLAKES ARE ALWKE
” F AND NS ERS. COMPARE SWEET IWITRee. MANY SNOWFLAKES 147 Have you ever gone for a walk when large feathery snowflakes are falling and blanketing the countryside? TRY IT and lift your
face to the sky and watch the white crystals come floating down, The snowflakes fall on your clothes, but only your face can feel the
touch of the feathery snow. Let a few flakes fall on a dark surface,
on your sleeve or mitten, and bring them up close and see the pattern of each little crystal. If you have a magnifying glass, it is great fun to examine some of the larger snowflakes. Look as long as you want, but you will find ho two alike. All snow crystals have six rays or are hexagonal which means that they have six sides. ¢ wo If you have no snow, on a frosty morning after Jack Frost has decorated the land with glistening whiteness, notice how the frost
. crystals look very much like the snowflakes drawn here. Magnify
these beauties, and see if you can sketch a few of their many forms, MONDAY—Play House In Cardboard Cartons.
