Babies better deal in health and happiness than they did before the last war. Much of this is due to bet- & ter knowledge of the needs | newborn infants, Dr. Pearson A. McLendon, professor of pediatries at George Washington Unt versity School of Medicine, Wash-| ington, told members of the| American Medical Associataion| at their recent meeting. There has been a revival in breast feeding, he pointed out,|

of infants have improved. During the war breast feeding increased because, for one thing, | marriages took place among the | younger age group. The young mothers, Dr. McLendon explained, had not had their ideas of motherhood “warped by a distracting and prolonged social whirl or a previous business ca-| reer.” And ‘they had extreme feelings of responsibility for their | babies because of the fathers’ ab-| sence on military service,

More Instructions At the same time, doctors be came aware of the fact that “new-| borns were no* getting their just! desserts,” Dr. McLendon said. Obstetricians fell in line with the revival in breast feeding and gave) expectant mothers more instruction in how to prepare and care) for their breasts Among mothers who must re turn to work after the baby Is

Penalty Cards The official laws definitely specify that there are no penalty cards in two-handed canasta. For example, suppose that your score is more than 3000 points & and therefore your minimum meld requirement ix 120. You meld three aces and a deuce | and three kings. You or your | opponent discover that your meld adds up to only 110. In four-handed canasta all of these cards would be penalty cards and you would have to leave them face up on the table. However, in two-handed | canasta you have no partner to gain illegal information from 4 your insufficient minimum | meld and you have not taken 5 2 | advantage of your opponent by AR Tish | showing him seven of the 3 y cards in your hand.
