- Forest green slipcover and black painted shutters are dark accents in the living room belong. ing to Bob Judah, 25 W. Michigan St. Ivy garjands and reeting cards taped on the shutters give

the room a Christmas touch.

By JEAN TABBERT THERE'S A CHRISTMAS atmosphere all year round in the apartment of Bob Judah, 25 W. Michigan St. The rooms are candlelit with the exception of ‘the two carriage Jamps that , flank the sofa, These are filled with real kerosene and Mr. Judah lights » them when he gives parties. One hundred twenty years old, the 4 lamps belonged to his father's family. The chandelier has tapers, too, and is low enough to light easily, Several electric lamps make a necessary concession to living comfort. An Interior decorator at Ayres’ for three years, Mr, Judah moved into the apartment a year and a half ago, It was a small downtown flat with! nothing to distinguish it but, bars at the windows, a Victorian fireplace and many Yeyesores.” The transformation has turned the place into a home resembling one. in the East Fifties in New York. It's taken a large chunk of Mr. Judah's ingenuity, hard work and background to complete the change. First of “all, he painted the walls and ceiling pink brick. .. Paired with that color, he used dark green corduroy slipcovers, black painted shutters he bought at a wrecking company and dove grey draperies, The dark was repeated In a wall to wall shag rug, and the draperiés relieved by chartreuse brise-bise curtains.

‘Gray Shag Rugs . To conceal a leatheret - sofa built-in to hide a basement entrance, Mr. Judah covered pillows with gray shag rugs. This - way he aclileved comfort as well as an attract've nook. He calls the corner his travel niche. There he has a poster from Quebes and a painting from Guatemala. The latter is edged with a strip of Guatemalan Indian rope. Also here is the shelf he built to hold magazines. It adds a gay note besides providing practical storage space for current

periodicals. Cushions on old Federal stools also are covered with

shag rugs, some in gray, others | in chartreuse. The seats all may . be removed to Increase the seating space for dining, When | Mr, Judah entertains in this | way, he places the cushions |
