Sponsor’ s Son Has Second Bes Season Average By GENE. LAWSON When the Dixie Cup outfit takes the floor to bowl these days the sponsor of the team probably takes more than a passing interest in its performance. The reason for this is the fact that Harvey Morehouse Sr, is branch manager for. the local Dixie Cup plant and his son happens to be one of the members of the team, The team bowls twice a week, in the B and L. Furnace circuit on Thursday evenings at the Uptown and on Tuesday nights in Broad Ripple's Town Tavern Classic. - Leads by 5 Games " In the Furnace loop, Dixie Cup holds a five game edge over Eagle Creek Nursery to hold the lead in that circuit but in the Town Tavern Classic the boys are not faring as well as they are in fifth position in the standings. Crushed Foot In Accident

By JIM HEYROCK , Having half your foot torm off might seem like a handicap for any ordinary person. But Jerry McKinney is no ordinary person. He's a hardtraining youngster who is aiming at a Golden Gloves Championship. “JAnd he has overcome a serious injury to be a fighter.

the Golden Gloves for the first time In 1947. It was‘ December, 11947. and he was training hard to enter the tourney the first month in 1048. Working on a. treig t ovale, Jerry ‘got his foot caught between the elevator and the wall as the lift. was starting to rise. His heel, including flesh and bone, was crushed off, That ended any possibility of entry into the Golden Gloves that year. He spent 20 weeks in the hospital and had five operations ‘lon his foot. Skin was grafted from his thigh.

Back in Training

As soon as his foot had healed sufficiently, Jerry was back .in training at’ Leeper’s Ringside ! Gym. In last winter's tournament, {he felt he was in good enough {shape to _enter.the Open Class of [the Times-Legion Tournament {although he had never fought as
