Sophocles Up-to-Date
FOR A MAN whom the Navy and Army rejected because of poor eyesight, Bruce Savage is a civic-minded realtor with keen perception. As a realtor, he sees an excellent future in real estate activity hére. This is. a good barometer of the general business potential, he says without qualification, As a citizen, he eyes with censure those who criticize politics and religion but refuse to exercise civic responsibilities. He believes in action without reservation..
As a husband and father, he belies the ferocity his name implies and is a mild-mannered, deeply respected individual. He is a music lover without frustration.
As the president-#lect of the Indianapolis Real Estate Board, Mr. Savage. carries these qualifications into office. : Perhaps these very active features of Mr. Savage’'s makeup give him the vast number of admirers. in his competitive profession.
Only Two Variations
THERE WERE only two occasions during which Mr. Savage abandoned two-fisted, aggressive strategy. “The first time came in his- collegiate undergraduate days—the second in his unsuccessful bid for the Republican 11th district congressional nomination in 19486. . “I'm most ashamed of this,” he admits freely. “I had no plan of action . .. no fight. I underestimated my opponent, Alfred Beveridge Jr.” His college days, he kicks off like the Charleston. “You might say I was a five-year loaf,” he smiles. He matriculated at Indiana, Northwestern and Butler Universities in the roaring '20's. “I was. a raccoon-coated rogue,” he says.
