Gets 3 to 14 Years For Death of Girl, 17 Eugene Bishop, 40-year-old exconvict, today began a three-to-14-year prison term after he pleaded guilty last night in Criminal Ceurt 2, in the abortion death of a 17-year-old high school girl, Bishop, whose trial began yesterday before a jury of 11 men and one woman, in Judge Saul I. Rabb’s court, made the change in his plea as a special night session got under way. Just as the jury was to return to the courtroom after supper, Bishop walked up to the judge's bench and asked the court to accept his guilty plea. “Why do you want to change your plea at this time?” Judge Rabb asked the prisoner.
“That taxi driver's testimony swamped me and the doctor's autopsy report didn’t help my case very much,” the prisoner replied. Accepts Plea
Judge Rabb accepted Bishop's guilty plea after he ascertained that the prisoner had consulted his attorneys, Thurl C. Rhodes] and Robert Rutherford, before] deciding to plead guilty.
