game players: Ham a la king, split and toasted corn muffins,
buttered, black currant jam, in-|’
dividual apple and “cranberry tarts with melted cheese, coffee,
hot chocolate or mulled cider. ~ ” - HAM A LA KING
One _tablespoon butter, one cup i ms, one small green pep-
per, thinly* sliced, four table: ~ spoons flour, salt to taste, oneeighth teaspoon cayenne. pepper, -
one-half teaspoon dry mustard, one and one-half cups whole milk, one cup chicken stock, two and one-fourth cups diced cooked ham, one tablespoon chopped!
parsley, ‘two tablespoons sherry, if desired.
Melt butter, ‘add mushrooms and strips of green pepper. Cook about four minutes, stirring constantly. Mix seasonings with flour. Stir into the butter, blend
well,
Cook slowly for five minutes. Slowly add milk and stock, stir-

heat until smooth. Add ham.
Heat thoroughly.
