Fire destroyed Meridian Street Church in its 35th anniversary year. And the well-known stotle church with twin steeples across the street from the library took its place. The congregation worshipped there until a few years ago when they sold the property and merged with the Fifty First Street Methodist Church, 51st and Central Ave Fifty First Street Church had united some years before with the Hall Place Methodist Church located at 16th and Hall Place.
