WINTER BIRDS TAKE POT LUCK
When winter is just around the corner most of the birds which nested and raised families in our dooryards have migrated to a warmer climate, but we have winter residents coming in from the North to stay with us, Even you who enjoy year-around sunshine in our southern states will find that many birds will be attracted to a feeding station. In the North it is important that we start feeding early and continue all through the cold months. A very simple feeder can be made by hanging a flower pot on a wire clothes hanger. A second wire can be used to make the hanger loops at the sides. Use a pair of pliers for cutting and bending the wire. When the feeder is finished, fill with crumbs, suet, or seeds, and your “neighbors” will come calling. Hang the pot under the protection of a porch near a window so that you will have the pleasure of watching the birds enjoy the cafeteria. MONDAY Keep Clean With Newspaper Aprons.
