Daniel T. Weir, 83, of 2142 Carroliton Ave. former assistant superintendent of Indianapolis: pub-
lic schools, was reported in fair
condition in Methodist Hospital today Mr. Weir was taken to the hospital Saturday after suffering a heart attack He came to Indianapolis in 1809 as head of the physics depart-
ment at Manual High School. He was for 16 years a supervisory priné¢ipal--and in. 1922 was made assistant superintendent .of schools. He retained until retirement in 1941.
Transfer of Funds To Hospital Approved
A City Ordinance calling for transfer of tax funds te the General Hospital power plant fund for the purchase of coal has been introduced to City Council. The ordinance, which declared existence of an emergency resultihg from the national coal miner's strike, proposed -transfer of $10.000 from the unappropriated 1949 budget balance ‘marked : for salaries and wages. The proposal also cited increased coal costs as a result of the strike. Some ice
