Texas had dominated the game and was ahead 6-0 in the third period when SMU turned on the steam. The victory squared the SMU Southwest Conference recox. at one victory against one efeat, and it kept the Mustangs in the running for national hon-| ors. Glory Divided The glo.y in this important game was divided among sophomore Fred Benners and “Killer” Kyle Rote, who teamed to turn up the touchdown, and all-Amer-fcan’ Walker, who provided the vital extra point. Younger Bowlers Making Oldsters Hustle

Several ‘Upstaris’ Boasting Current Averages Over 200 By GENE LAWSON During the current bowling season there are a great many,

battles taking place. Of course you have the race among the various’ tion and you also have an ever-

only bowler in the county this season to come through with two sets in the “700” class. Regarding his phenomenal success Dick says, “I know I'm rolling over

my head right now but so are a

lot of others.”

Might Not Last One of the aforementioned men had this to say about their progress. “There has always been S50 much talk of the older and better‘ known bowlers. It's nice to see that some of the other fellows can keep up with them, even though it might not last very long.” Yes, it's true. It may not last much longer. There is a lot of time between now and next spring when the leagues wind up their activities and quite a bit can Bphen by then. They say the test comes in the last few weeks when the pressure mounts from day to day causing numerous competitors to “blow up.” At any rate, these five hot shots do not intend to rest on their laurels just because they have been successful so far. It will be interesting to see how long they can keep, going.
