Offhand, as I look back, some of the things I remember best
are the 92-yard kickoff return I made in the 1946 game against Columbia; receiving the 1945 Sullivan Award; scoring my first Army a fuit share touchdown; and being a part of West Point's Golden Era of Foot-|* .
Because of the combination of circumstances, however, I'd have
to single out the 1944 game with Notre Dame as my greatest day. We won that one, 59 to 0. Coach Earl Blaik has been criticized repeatedly for piling it on in that game. But I want to say right here and now that there isn’t a semblance of truth in such charges. Actually, the first team played only 20 minutes. It simply was a case of everything we did being right while all Notre Dame tried to do was
Moré Than a Game You see, this was mory than just a game with Notre Damg, For 13 years the Irish had kept from winning. And, to inspire further, we hadn’t scored a poi on Notre Dame in five years. In fact, now that I think of it, if anybody’s to blame for the big score it's Notre Dame. Yes, Notre Dame, which fired our burning desire to win with its long humiliation of Army players. As 1 said, we hadn't scored a point on the Irish in five years, We took care of that, but real quick. We got our hands on the ball three times at the very start of the game and Notre Dame was hit by the fastest three touchdowns it had seen or ever will see. Ten minutes and we had 20 points.

By United Press : ‘ LAFAYETTE, Oct. 27 — Three injured players today forced Coach Stu Holcomb to revise the Purdue traveling roster.
