Davis earned the Maxwell Memorial Trophy, Walter Camp Trophy, Heisman Award and the Los Angeles Times Award— all emblematic of Player of the Year—during his career.

Army won, 23 to 7, and there was more to it than just a victory. Navy Had Best Line First of all, we had lost five straight games to the Tars. Rub-| bing salt in the deep wound was the tact that Army had scored but once touchdown in those games. And, most of all, we were on the threshold of the first un-|¢ beaten Army season since 1916.
