RATTLE YOUR BONES FOR ROLLING RHYTHM--At a recent recreational leader's laboratory in Minnesota when we were all square dancing, a pair of rattling bones added variety to the dance rhythm. A minister from Wisconsin brought along his well-worn beef rib bones which he could “roll” with many tone variations. A trend today seems to be toward the old American square dance, and if you can rattle bones in rhythm with a guitar you will be in demand to accompany the band. The rib bones can often be obtained right from the family rib roast, but if this is not possible ask your butcher for a pair of 6 to 8-inch flat rib bones, ‘Scrape and dry them, then place sides together, and try your luck. Hold one bone. steady and rattle the other against it by letting it swing freely as you rapidly turn your wrist.

Ask Dad, Grandad, or Uncle Joe if they remember how_to rattle bones. Try a pair in each hand for some“ rattling good rhythm.”—MONDAY: Fishing Poles for Safety Patroly. i
