Poon, coro, AY- ; : LOOK !--YOUR | SHOOT YOUR CARRY A POCKET CHECKERBOARD —There are many occas CIGAR ASHES sions on hikes, car trips, and visits when a small, pocket-sized checkerboard helps to entertain you and a partner during idle hours. To make a small model, cut a six-inch square of good quality carde board and lay off 64 squares arranged with eight in a row, each three-fourths of an inch square. When the squares are marked properly, paint them alternately red and black, using a small brush and water colors or drawing inks. When it is dry cut the card in two and paste a paper or cloth hinge on the back, so that the card may be folded in half to fit in your pocket, Since each player needs twelve men, select two sets of | buttons of different colors and keep them together by pinning them on a large safety pin. You can also make men out of small metal washers, and paint one set with red nail polish.
