Here is a chance to relive the days of the “forty-niners” just like they were lived 100 years ago, during the time of the gold rush. When our forefathers crossed the prairies of our broad county, they traveled and lived in their wagons, protected only by the cloth covers spread over their wagon tops on large wooden hoops. To make a covered wagon from your play coaster wagon take a heavy wire and cut four six-foot lengths for the main hoops. With a metal drill bore four holes in the side of the top edge of the wagon bed, and bend the wire hoop tips securely in the holes so that they will stay in position. A cross bracing of wire and cerd should then be made to hold the cover in position. An old sheet can be patched and sewed over the framework for this cover. _ Hang small pots, shovels, pans, washboards, and other pio-neer-like objects on the wagon bed for equipment, Write “Califor. nia or Bust” on the cover, and you will be a wagon pioneer in 49,
