Melt chocolate and shortening in top of double boiler. Cool to lukewarm. Add sugar, othr well. Mix agg yolks with 1 cup milk, otir into chocolate mixture. When smooth, 044 sifted cake flour, salt, beat until well blended. Add vanilla and % cup milk, stir until smooth. Dissolve sods in 4 cup milk, stir Mtoe batter. Pour into J greased and floured %inch layer pans, Bake In ~ © moderate oven (350° F.) about 3 minutes.
