¥-- A CANVAS SHELTER FOR A BACKYARD DEN
If RUN DOWN AND ASK
CANVAS OR AN AWNING
It is great fun to pick out a corner of your backyard and set up a dén, Wild animals in the woods have a den, a place that they call home. A den for boys and girls can be made into a campsite, where you may’ “camp out” for the summer under canvas. A _ simple tent can be stretched over a frame work made by
{placing a ridge pola in the crotch of two upright forked sticks, These
forked sticks “stiould be set ‘a foot-os so in the ground and placed as far apart as the canvas is wide. The canvas square is best if it is waterproofed and will turn rain, but you will be protected from the sun if ‘an old piece of used awning or a worn out blanket is used as covering. Tie long ropes to the front cdriiers of the shelter and short ones to the rear corners. Drive four stakes into the ground by each corner, and stretch your canvas over the ridge pole. Now you are ready to set up camp where you can eat picnic lunches, enter. tain your friends, —or do simple outdoor cooking. TOMORROW For Summer Fun Turn Somersaults,
