PLANT SUNFLOWERS FOR WINTER BIRD FEEDING The large garden sunflower gets this name because of ita great sun-like flowering head, Round like the sun, its petals golden rays surrounding a disc where the seeds develop, are many types of sunflowers, but the kind most commonly used in gardens must be planted from seed every year, These garden varieties may be used as borders or mixed into a plantings against fences or buildings.
